Companion Animal Hospital has been caring for pets and their owners for over 30 years. Dr. Barbara Hess serves clients and their pets, namely dogs and cats, from a wide surrounding area.

We are conveniently located at the town lines of Middletown, Cromwell and Berlin, and right off Interstate 91.
Dr. Hess founded Companion Animal Hospital in 1989. A graduate from University of Tennesse School of Veterinary Medicine.
In addition to dogs and cats, Dr. Hess also has a special interest in providing veterinary care to smaller mammals such as rabbits, ferrets, guinea pigs, hamsters and other small pets.
You may already be familiar with Dr. Mel if you are currently a client of Companion Animal Hospital, where she grew up working as a veterinary assistant. She received her Bachelor in Animal Science at UCONN, prior to receiving her Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine from Ross University.
Growing up as the daughter of the hospital owner, Barbara Hess, she learned at an early age about the skills, training and compassion needed to care for pets and their health care needs.
She has completed her training as a Veterinary Acupuncturist from the Chi Institute. Her special interest also include exotic animals, pocket pets and volunteering in Wildlife Medicine.
